With the semi-official end of summer upon us this Labor Day weekend, you might be thinking it’s time for one last poolside beer…but why not check out Houston’s Free Day of Yoga instead?
Sure, Houstonians can often catch a free yoga class in Discovery Green and at stores like Whole Foods Market and Athleta, but this is free yoga on a totally different scale. Sponsored in part by the Texas Yoga Association, the 11th annual Houston Free Day of Yoga kicks off this Monday on the lawn of the Rothko Chapel at 8 a.m.
The event is one of many initiatives for the TYA (the same people who help bring us The Texas Yoga Conference, Yoga for Health Oncology with MD Anderson & International Day of Yoga) with participating studios offering free classes—yes, FREE—across Houston and the surrounding areas throughout the entire day as a way to engage those who have not yet tried yoga and re-engage those who already do.
Co-sponsors Breakfast Yoga Club and Luke’s Locker will be in attendance along with many local yoga studios like YogaOne, Joy Yoga, Jennyoga, BIG Power Yoga and Black Swan Yoga, to name just a few, and classes will be set to music by areexpressions and offered alongside refreshments by Houston’s Juice Girl food truck.
So grab your mat and come on by!
