ARE YOU READY for the 2026 hurricane season, Houston?

We still remember 2024 a little too well. The first storm of the season, Hurricane Beryl, was a doozy. Despite only being a Category 1 hurricane, it wiped out power for more than 2.26 million people in the Houston area—more customers than at any other time in CenterPoint history. Locals directed their anger at the utility company, which restored power to homes at a snail’s pace. Someone even graffitied “Centerpointless” below I-10, spraying out loud what we were all feeling.

2025 was a different story. Texas dodged every storm last season—the first time that had happened since 2022. Houston exhaled, but a quiet year is not a safe year, and anyone who lived through Beryl knows better than to get comfortable. Here’s everything you need to be prepared for the next storm.
