Bayoutopia Begins

Bayou Preservation Association celebrates gala kickoff with distinguished designer Josie Natori.

The Bayou Preservation Association kicked-off their 15th annual gala, “Bayoutopia,” at Tootsies on Wednesday, featuring a personal appearance and trunk show by designer Josie Natori. But the soirée offered more than a mere trunk show.

Guests were treated with a personal styling session by the award-winning Natori. The diminutive designer approached the task with zeal, running back and forth between rack and fitting room as she carefully selected wardrobe and accessories to match the personality and shape of each shopper.

Asked what key piece every woman needs in her wardrobe this fall, Natori said "toppers" would be huge. And what is a topper, exactly? A topper includes pieces that crown the outfit such as a bolero or a fur vest.

When she wasn't in fashion mode, Natori took a moment to reflect on Houston. “I’m impressed with the philanthropy in Houston,” Natori said, “The women of the city are very giving.”
