When she’s not ringside at an mixed martial arts event or noshing at Houston’s newest eateries, you can find Stephanie Joplin working hard on her YouTube lifestyle vlog or spending time with her favorite furry friend, Griffin.

What is your fashion guide for ladies going to professional MMA fights?

MMA fights are much different than professional basketball or football games. I never recommend for women to dress up for games, especially in heels. You are bound to fall flat on your face. At the fights, there isn’t as much walking involved typically, and there are not any pre-game activities such as tailgating. I always dress professionally feminine, with just a hint of ‘sexy’ when I am attending any fight card. I always want to keep people asking, ‘Who is that?’

The MMA community really differs from the NFL, NBA, MLB, et cetera. It’s truly a small unit, like a fraternity almost, so maintaining people’s attention is vital if you want to keep your name relevant, even as a journalist. As a professional in that industry, you always want to be looking your best. As a fan, however, I think you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in, and rep your favorite fighter if you can. It means a lot to the athletes.

What are your makeup and fashion must-haves for this summer?

NEON EVERYTHING. I am obsessed with neon colors, especially orange, yellow and pink. I have to have neon nails for the summer. I am also really in to highlighter for that beautiful summer glow. I recommend Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Glow Kits or the Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold to highlight your cheeks, nose and décolleté.

How tall is too tall for high heels?

I only wear heels on two occasions: to work and if I have a special outing such as a fancy dinner. I am a Vans and pretty flats type of girl. My most recent gift was a pair of studded nude-pink Valentino flats from my mom for my birthday.

What are your necessities when you head out without a handbag?

My cell phone, keys and key fob wallet, and a lippy.

What's the secret to keeping your hair so fabulous in the Houston summer heat?

About one hour before I wash my hair, I cover the ends with raw coconut oil and put it up in a plastic shower cap. (Do NOT put coconut oil next to your roots!) This keeps your hair soft, supple and smooth. After washing thoroughly, I use an anti-frizz cream. After styling, I finish with a small drop of Kardashian Beauty Black Seed Dry Oil. It really helps to keep the humidity out of my hair and keep it looking healthy. Unless you have very oily hair, try to wash your hair only every four to five days. More washing will dry your hair and scalp out, causing dead looking locks and dandruff.

What's your favorite place to go to on a date right now?

I love going to iPic. I get bored with the interview questions that a date usually brings, so watching a movie and feasting on popcorn with great company and good vibes is definitely the way to my heart.

Does your dachshund, Griffin, have any favorite accessories?

His favorite accessory is his mom… ME! I find him lying on top of me when I wake up every morning and every night before I fall asleep. We like to go for walks, so he likes his Kong brand harness, because it doesn’t strangle him as he tries to go chase after the other dogs. He just wants to play with all of the other babies.
