The Perfect Excuse to Try Wakeboarding Is Here

TEMPERATURES IN TEXAS ARE ALREADY FLIRTING with the 90-degree range, and guess what? It’s not officially summer for another month and a half. Most of us have our hot weather go-tos, like hitting the community pool, driving to the beach, or enjoying a frosty beverage and rolling out the Slip-N-Slide. Instead of the usual lineup, why not let this be the year to check out a new water sport?
On Saturday, May 13, you can learn to wakeboard for free at Wake Nation’s 12-acre activity lake in Rosharon, Texas. The event is part of board and apparel brand Liquid Force’s “Free for All” tour, which is zig-zagging its way across the country all summer. Attendees can enjoy giveaways, demonstrations, riding, and even beginner instruction all day, for free.
Wake Nation is a boat-free facility, and instead uses a network of overhead cables to pull wakeboarders around the lake. This creates a safe and beginner-friendly environment for riders as young as 7 years old, but still allows those with more experience to catch some serious air on the lake's built-in ramps and rails. For those who are new to the sport, it’s best to show up between 10 a.m. and noon to hone your skills on slower moving cables, as the speed is increased in the afternoon.
Wake Nation is located at 4411 County Rd 418 Rosharon, Texas. 281-431-4444. No RSVP required.
