When I wrote this article, Harvey had not happened, which has changed many back to school plans. So many schools and campuses have had to delay opening their doors and many cannot open at all. I felt it was now time to share this article for those who are able to return. I gathered several of my fashionable young friends and asked them to share some of their favorite looks.
We begin with me. Many colleges have adult classes, so we grown-ups can rock the school girl look too! I chose a plaid dress with little cap sleeves and bow at the neck. I accessorized with a fun belt, cap, knee socks and black booties. Time to learn!
Kendra opted for the popular skater-girl look. She started with cute little shorts and a band T-shirt, then added a leather jacket, statement necklace, cap, knee socks and wedge booties.
Former Miss Houston Teen Mary Frances looks adorable in her silver jean skirt, sports T-shirt, a skinny black belt and trendy tennies. She has headed off to Texas A&M. Also, look for her in the upcoming Miss Texas Pageant. Busy girl!
Kendra is mixing stylish patterns with her red plaid overall shorts and blue plaid shirt layered over a Jaws t-shirt.
The current Miss Houston, Hannah, is attending TSU law school this fall. She told me that at the post-grad level, the schools encourage you to dress in more work-appropriate attire. I love her black pencil skirt and soft, ruffled blouse. She then added a statement belt, pearl earrings, a black tote and black pumps. Look for Hannah in the upcoming Miss Texas Pageant. Another busy girl!
For those of you attending Houston area schools, Kendra is repping our favorite city with her Houston logo shirt over a flounce floral skirt. She added print socks, short booties and a cap from Premium Goods, a store known for selling Houston wear.
The current Miss Kemah Teen, Bryn, chose a very current trend of painted jeans and a soft color leather jacket. Look for Bryn in the upcoming Miss Texas Teen Pageant.
Nicole is at the beautiful Rice University campus in a floral jumper dress over a lace shirt. She added a school girl cap, knee socks, walking booties and a large tote for holding notebooks.
Lastly, Kendra is in one of the Pepperdine University libraries. It's hard to study when your campus is on the ocean in Malibu! She layered a fun Marc Jacobs shirt over a red lace long sleeve top and short black skirt.
The very best of luck to everyone going back to school!
