Namaste, Y'all

Have you ever been massaged in a silk hammock under the stars?

Just around 35 minutes Northwest of Austin, overlooking Lake Travis in the former Trevaasa property, a new resort has laid the groundwork to bring you some truly incredible namaste time in the near future.

Opening on December 13, Miraval Austin (the flagship is in Tucson, Arizona) will undoubtedly be a destination for those seeking a getaway on its 220 acres, which include 117 guest rooms, a fully-functioning ranch and farm, an equine program, a fitness center with an emphasis on yoga, culinary programs, and much, much more.

But it's the 30-room state of the art Life In Balance Spa and its heavenly ayurvedic treatments and body renewal rituals we're longing for. From groovy couples therapies that utilize the good vibrations of crystal bowls to acupuncture to treatments that combine float tank-style immersion and Thai massage in a private pool, there's a lot of holistic pampering on offer here. These are just a few of the signature spa items we're dreaming about. Om.

Guests lie in a silk hammock while a therapist deeply massages the muscles from beneath using their feet.  On the ceiling in the treatment room are numerous stars, which rotate just like the night sky.

Jade Meridian

Breathwork and a cool jade stone massage with warming ginger oil allow for energy healing, while Gua Sha techniques are utilized to stimulate circulation and open Qi energy channels. It's all followed by a warm herbal towel wrap.

Tibetan bowls are used to relax the body and open the mind while feather-light Marma point therapy, energy work, craniosacral, acupressure and gentle massage are included in this treatment.

Wild Harvest Herbal Healer

Guests harvest herbs at Cyprus Creek Farm (the on-site farm at Miraval Austin) and participate in an intention-setting ceremony. The herbs are then turned into oils to be used in the spa's treatments. A full body relaxation massage that utilizes oils infused with herbs harvested on-property, local honey and hot stones.

More information and reservations can be found here. The resort's grand opening celebration is expected in January.
