Alief native Tobe Nwigwe has been on a high and has yet to come down. The Houston emcee was recently featured in Beyonce’s latest Ivy Park campaign, nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in the latest Beats by Dre commercial, and has received cosigns from celebrities like Erykah Badu, and Dave Chappelle. Now, with live music making a hopeful return post-quarantine, the “Try Jesus” vocalist will be heading on a 6-city tour, starting this October.
Called the “MonumintalTour,” the major city tour falls in line with Nwigwe’s mint green campaign. The monochromatic use of the color has become a signature for Nwigwe and his team.
The “Monumintal Tour” marks a follow-up to his 2019 tour, “Tobe From the SWAT,” as well as his “Get Twisted Sundays” series. The tour will begin in Atlanta on Halloween, and will be followed by performances in Washington D.C, Chicago, Los Angeles, in November, closing with shows in New York City and his hometown of Houston in December.
Doubling as both a new father and an artist, Nwigwe chose a shorter tour because he wants to spend more time with his family than performing, according to an Instagram post.
Nwigwe’s Houston performance marks one of the first few performances to be held at the new 713 Music Hall, located inside POST, the forthcoming market hall and multipurpose venue.
Tickets for the upcoming Houston show range from $35 to $129.
