Our Houston Restaurant Summer Menu Round-Up

Here's what's new at some of your favorite restaurants.

As we head into the deep end of July, some of our favorite restaurants and bars around town are introducing new summer menus. Some consist of lighter fare to help us get through this intense summer heat, some are revamping old favorites. Others are adding new services to their repertoire. With our stomachs in mind, we decided to do a round-up of what’s new—we still have a few more months of summer left, so be sure to get out there and enjoy.


Edison just released its new summer happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. daily, with a reverse happy hour on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 p.m. to close. With $6 cocktails, newly revamped menu items and two happy hours to choose from, the patio at Edison is definitely worth a spending your summer nights.

Stone’s Throw

This past Sunday, Stone’s Throw launched their new brunch menu—combining carbs and cocktails. With a new selection of summer drinks and a selection of scones from Common Bond, this is a must-stop destination to get your baked goods fix alongside a boozy counterpart. Pro tip: Scones are just $1 when ordered alongside a cocktail.

Underbelly is now focusing seafood and veggies.


Known for consistently raising the bar on the Houston restaurant scene since its inception, Underbelly refocused its menu last month. Now, at the once meat-centric Montrose eatery, there's a heavy emphasis on seafood and vegetable offerings. Notable additions include ceviche, crudos and seafood towers. One of our new favorites is the Florida clams, accented with Spanish chorizo and chiles.


With an emphasis on sustainable, locally sourced foods, Roost released another summer menu on July 20 to run all the way through Houston Restaurant Weeks this September. Some of the new items include a red beet hummus dish and smoked oyster shooters with blackberry-and-tomato gazpacho.

The Pass & Provisions

The Pass & Provisions have long time been a two-for-one staple on the foodie scene, offering diners two distinctly different experiences with the upscale setting in the Pass and more chill environment in Provisions. In June, they revamped the tasting menu at the Pass including more approachable items like a fish taco course. At Provisions, new options include the English Pea Cavatappi and the Pork Shoulder & Liver Terrine with lavender pickled peaches. 

Under the Volcano

A frequent Rice Village destination for years now, this neighborhood bar also serves up some great bites.  Just in time for summer they rolled out brunch service on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering up items like brioche French toast and bagels and lox to go with your $3 mimosas and $5 Bloody Mary and frozen Screwdrivers. 

Balls Out Burger

A newcomer on the burger scene that has been earning some serious buzz, Balls Out just announced a new happy hour menu running Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Just $10 gets you a burger, a topping of your choice, fries and a soda, a significant discount from the prices the rest of the day.

A big hit with ethical foodies, Coltivare changes its menu daily in order to incorporate seasonal changes, including sourcing from the onsite garden. The latest blink-and-you'll-miss-them summer offerings include summer squash crudo and locally sourced eggplant Parmigiana.
