Houston has two of the top-10 steakhouses in America, according to the website the Daily Meal. Pappas Bros. Steakhouse was named the No. 4 steakhouse in all of America, and just a few spots up is Killen's Steakhouse in Pearland, which was named No. 8. Per the website, the Pappas Bros. experience "is about as classic steakhouse as you’re likely to find."
Tarka Indian Kitchen, which has locations in the Heights and Springwoods Village, will be opening a third location in January at 3701 S. Shepherd Dr., #A, in Upper Kirby. The Austin-based Indian restaurant is known for its everyday casual food like curries, kabobs, and biryanis.
Guard and Grace, the newest steakhouse in town, has launched lunch and social hour. At lunch (11 a.m.–3 p.m. Monday through Friday), look for Vietnamese steak salad, beef tenderloin tip salad, chicken torta, chicken enchilada; and social hour (3 p.m.–6 p.m. Monday through Friday) has deals like a $10 charcuterie and cheese plate.
Brennan's of Houston will host red bean manufacturer Camellia Brand with a bean feast as part of its Red Beans Roadshow starting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 27. The New Orleans-based brand has been around for nearly 100 years, and it'll be star of a Louisiana Monday-night meal of fried boudin with red bean puree, shrimp remoulade with shrimp boil-spiced veggies, and red beans and rice with Andouille sausage.
