WANT A LOOK THAT'S OUT OF THIS WORLD? Coach has got you covered with its new Space Collection—think NASA paired with vintage '60s vibes. From handbags and wallets to keychains and jackets, the collection offers a little bit of everything, even some items for men.
With NASA's Johnson Space Center just down the road, what Houstonian wouldn't want a fashionable new way to show their pride? Many pieces in the collection feature patches of space shuttles, planets, and more, meant to mimic the mission patches on astronauts' space suits. Coach also makes use of the NASA “worm” logo–the vintage one with curved, connecting letters. (Fun fact: The logo used today is sometimes referred to as the NASA “meatball” logo.)
The Space Collection recently became available at Coach outlet stores. A similar limited-edition collection of NASA-inspired bags and clothing sold out in regular Coach stores last year, perhaps prompting this outlet-specific run. As we all know, outlets spell lower prices, which is good news for us: The Space Collection pieces range from about $50–400. The previous similar collection in regular stores included pieces that retailed for upwards of $800.
Believe it or not, fashion’s NASA moment hasn’t been limited to Coach. At last year's Paris Fashion Week, Chanel debuted its fall/winter line full of interstellar looks like galactic prints and planet-shaped bags. There was even a mock rocket ready for take-off from the runway.
For those of us with more Coach-friendly bank accounts, the new collection makes it easier—and trendier—than ever to rep Space City.
The Space Collection is available at the Coach Outlet at Tanger Outlets in Texas City and Houston Premium Outlets in Cypress.
