Turkey and pecan pie thanks to Goode Co.? It's a Thanksgiving miracle!

IT'S MONDAY. Let’s start the week by cleaning out the inbox and scouring the Houston food and drink scene. Here is your weekly news update.

Houstonians, we are less than three weeks from Thanksgiving. Are you prepared? If not, don't fret. Restaurants are still rolling out their turkey day plans, so if you find yourself in a bind (or you just don't want to call the Butterball Hotline), you can always dine out. Think of the stress you won't put yourself through!

Steak 48 is serving its full menu on Thanksgiving, opening at 1 p.m. and closing at 9 p.m. Along with domestic wagyu filet and bone-in Kansas City strip, chef Jeff Taylor will carve turkey and offer homemade pumpkin pie. Reservations are necessary.

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations is doing something cool for Thanksgiving. It'll be open noon-7 p.m., serving a fixed menu ($45-$55, $15 ages 12 and younger, half-off wine and $5 Texas beers) that includes maple-bourbon brined turkey, brown sugar baked ham, green bean casserole, garlic mashed potatoes, spicy mac 'n' cheese with bacon, and desserts like apple cobbler and pumpkin spiced cake. Here's the catch: The owner and top-line staff at Bosscat will be serving with their family members. That means regular staff gets the day off while the restaurant serves the community. That's a good idea.

The Classic All Day will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., serving a three-course prix-fixe meal at $40 per person (not including beverages, tax, or tip). The menu includes maple-glazed turkey breast, herb-crusted roasted butcher's cut with red wine au jus, butter whipped potatoes, sweet potato layered cake, and mom's chocolate cake. Drooling yet? Make a reservation.

Meanwhile, Quattro at the Four Seasons will host a turkey day brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's offering live piano entertainment, complimentary coffee, bloody marys and mimosas, and a loaded menu that includes ham, lamb, salmon, pork loin, ribeye, and turkey, plus traditional sides from Bayou & Bottle, a full breakfast station, raw bar, and plenty of non-traditional appetizers and entrées. Price is $110 for adults, $49 for ages 6-12. Considering the wealth of menu items, it's a good deal and can easily substitute for your homemade holiday feast.

Ristorante Cavour at Hotel Granduca is hosting a Thanksgiving brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Get turkey, prime beef, seafood, and a lot more. Price is $85 adults, $40 ages 5-12.

If you still want to eat at home, but would rather, say, Nick Fine of Underbelly Hospitality cook for you, the company is offering ready-made Thanksgiving dinners (prices vary, but appetizer plus turkey, three sides, all the extras, and two desserts runs about $300). Main courses are a house-smoked, four-pound-approximate turkey breast, and a day-after gumbo (just add turkey). Sides include sweet potato and cheddar gratin, cornbread custard, and bacon sausage creamed greens (what now?), and for dessert, grab pecan pie, vinegar pie, or Georgia James apple pie, among other dishes. 

Or maybe you want an Agricole Thanksgiving? Order here and pick up your proteins, sides, breads, and desserts during Thanksgiving week. A whole turkey (12-16 pounds), and the usual Thanksgiving sides and desserts will probably cost you around $300. Agricole also offers cooking aids if you want to give it all a go yourself.

Feges BBQ will be offering a full to-go menu including brisket, turkey breast, sides like loaded potato salad and sweets like banana cream pie. Place your order by November 14 and pick up Thanksgiving week.

Finally, order your Goode Co. mesquite smoked turkey today for $75. Add the Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie (in the wooden box) for $42 more. Heck yeah. 

Veteran's Day is this week. On that day (Sunday), The Kolache Factory is offering a free kolache and coffee to all veterans and those actively serving in the armed forces. That goes for all Kolache Factory locations. Just present a government-issued military photo ID. And Dunkin' Donuts is offering a free doughnut to veterans and active-duty military personnel.

Even more Election Day stuff, and quickly (but vote!):

  • The East Hampton Sandwich Co. will give you a whoopie pie if you wear your "I Voted!" sticker on Tuesday. 
  • Fajita Pete's on Tuesday is offering a $10 deal: chips and white queso, a red margarita, and a blue margarita (get it?). 
  • Flash the sticker and get a free cookie or brownie at Antone's Famous Po' Boys on Tuesday.
  • Pay half-off for tacos by showing the sticker at all Jax Grill locations Tuesday.
  • Get a free appetizer by exposing that sticker on Tuesday at all Union Kitchen locations.

B.B. Lemon, the new concept from Benajmin Berg of Berg Hospitality Group, will open Thursday at Washington Avenue across from his B&B Butchers. B.B. Lemon promises "classic, straightforward food and cocktails" that blend New York City and Houston. 

Picture this: You're at the Galleria, shopping for maybe an hour, and the hunger hits. You have time, so maybe lunch at Peli Peli sounds good, but then you get sidetracked at Gucci. Before you know it, you're wondering if you father needs any Tommy Bahama gear, your belly is growling, and now you don't have enough time. Auntie Anne's it is.

No more! The Galleria is now using QuickEats, a mobile ordering platform. Visit simon.com/quickeats and order food at any participating Galleria eatery. Then come by and pick up your order. Just be careful not to select Woodbury Common instead of Galleria; if you do, your food will be a 24-hour drive away in Orange County, New York. Sorry.

Some quick bites:

La Villa Saint Tropez has a $7 happy hour in effect. Get select $7 cocktails, wines, ciders, and tapas between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.

King's BierHaus and King's Biergarten are giving away a free glass of gluhwein, or mulled wine, to every of-age customer on Wednesdays through the end of the year. 

Café Poetes has launched an apéritif hour from 3 to 7 p.m. daily, which includes eclairs, quiches, tartines, egg dishes, and more.

On November 13, Eight Row Flint will host a whole hog charity event benefiting the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina for Hurricane Florence relief. Patrick and Erin Feges will show up as guest chefs, joining the Agricole team, and sides will be made by Claire Smith and Kent Domas of Alice Blue, Anita Jaisinghani of Pondicheri, Kathy Elkins of Harold's, and Keisha Griggs of Ate Boutique Kitchen and Bocage Catering. Plates are $25. It starts at 5 p.m. and will go until the pig is gone.

According to Eater, El Tiempo 1308 Cantina in Montrose will be closing its doors Sunday. In its place will be a mid-rise apartment project. That said, a new El Tiempo Cantina is planned for the GOOF this December.
