Where to Eat and Where to Get Takeout This Valentine's Day

We have dine-in and to-go options, plus some hot specials (in more ways than one).

That's right: Valentine's Day isn't that far away. This is the time to think about reservations for February 14, and if you're stumped on what to do, we have a list ready of restaurants hosting prix fixe dinners and featuring specials. Remember, this is a partial list.

a'Bouzy: Get rosé and a rose (and some sparkling wine). Three offers here: Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial Brut NV, The Palm by Whispering Angel '19, and a long-stemmed rose for $120; Ruinart Brut Rosé NV, Rock Angel Rosé by Château d’Esclans '19, and a long-stemmed rose for $148; or Veuve Clicquot Brut Rosé NV, Whispering Angel Rosé by Château d’Esclans '19, and a long-stemmed rose for $168. Babin's Seafood House: Special of shrimp- and crab-stuffed golden tile offered from February 12 to 14.

Backstreet Cafe: A couple's menu will be offered February 11–13 at $110 per couple, plus beverage, tax, and gratuity. Mains include grilled beef tenderloin, pan-seared scallops, and grilled lamb chops. On Valentine's Day, a special menu will be offered at $85 per person, plus beverage, tax, and gratuity, and it includes oven-roasted duck, grilled eye of ribeye, and eggplant pappardelle. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. February 14, get brunch for $49 per person. Offerings include crispy risotto and brisket cakes, migas, and salmon tacos.

Bloom & Bee: The eatery inside the Post Oak Hotel will host dinner on February 13 and 14, with options including squid ink tagliatelle, veal ossobuco, and New York strip and prawns. Three courses, plus baked brie with puff pastry to start. $170 per couple. The restaurant is also hosting a Galentine's Brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 12 and 13. It includes entrées like house-smoked Alaskan salmon Benedict and quiche lorraine, plus a charcuterie board to share and dessert. $45 per person.

Bobcat Teddy's Ice House: The Love and Mudbugs Crawfish Boil is set for noon February 14. Bagzz of Bugzz Crawfish will be serving. Champagne specials, also. 

Brasil: Galentine's Day celebration on the patio from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. February 13. Cocktails served, and guests will make their own jarred bath salts. $25 per person.

Brasserie du Parc: A three-course menu will be offered February 12–14 at $65 per person. Main courses include New York filet, branzino, and duck breast. A to-go dinner can be had for $65 per person, and mains include branzino and beef tenderloin. Cocktail kits at $52–64 are also available—call at least 24 hours in advance of pickup. Brennan's of Houston: Special three-course menu offered from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. February 14, featuring entrées like Maine lobster, shrimp-stuffed gulf flounder, and Harris Ranch filet. $75 per person. Live jazz, as well. Call 713-522-9711.

Brenner's on the Bayou: Those dining in on February 14 can get six-ounce center-cut filet and grilled lobster tail for $36. A four-course menu for $99 is also available, and that includes grilled octopus and egg and leek and oyster soup. You can also order a prime rib dinner for two ($100) or four ($150) to-go. Order by February 9, and pick up on February 14.

Caracol: A couple's menu will be offered February 11–13 at $110 per couple, plus beverage, tax, and gratuity. Mains include squid ink black rice with seafood, oven-roasted quail, and grilled petite tenderloin. On Valentine's Day, a special menu will be offered at $85 per person, plus beverage, tax, and gratuity, which includes tenderloin, pan-seared scallops, and fire-roasted lobster. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. February 14, get brunch for $49 per person. Offerings include chilaquiles, bacon-wrapped quail with poached eggs, and grilled salmon and eggs with chorizo hash. The Chalet: Reservations accepted for Valentine's weekend at the outdoor space abutting Rosie Cannonball. For $200 get two hours with cozy blankets, firepit-side seating, a bottle of Krug Grand Cuvee and a dozen East Coast oysters. 

Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse: A dinner for two, available February 12–14, includes two eight-ounce filets mignons (which can be upgraded to other cuts), a lobster tail carved tableside, and a Godiva chocolate cheesecake. A specialty cocktail will also be served. Starts at $199 per couple.

Etoile Cuisine et Bar: A four-course menu is offered on February 12 and 13 at $78 per person. Entrées include beef tenderloin, roasted duck breast, and winter vegetable risotto. A to-go menu is offered February 12–14 at $65 per person with the same entrées, although it substitutes duck breast for seared sea bass. Brunch will be served on February 14 for $48 per person, and that includes mains like Maine lobster omelet and beef short rib hash. Call 832-668-5808.

Fajitas A Go Go: The Fajitas Mariscos de Campechana package is $89 and includes surf-and-turf fajitas, spicy tomato salsa with oysters, grilled shrimp, and blue crab, and red velvet cake, plus margarita mix. Available for delivery.

Goodnight Hospitality: Along with the Chalet experience (see above), you can make chocolate soufflé with vanilla anglaise with the help of executive pastry chef Shawn Gawle. Purchase a $50 kit here and pick up between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. February 12-14. Then cook while following a pre-recorded video, and if you need extra help, Gawle will do a Q&A on Rosie Cannonball's Instagram Live at 8 p.m. February 14.

Grotto: At both locations, prix fixe menu available from February 12 to 14 at $59 per person highlighted by beef tenderloin. Special dishes at I-610 location include surf and turf and cuoricini di Zucca.

Hugo's: A couple's menu will be offered February 11–13 at $110 per couple, plus beverage, tax, and gratuity. Mains include wood-grilled tenderloin, fire-roasted lobster, and crispy duck with mole Poblano. On Valentine's Day, a special menu will be offered at $85 per person, plus beverage, tax, and gratuity, which includes beef tenderloin, fire-roasted lobster, and wood-grilled lamb chops. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. February 14, get brunch for $49 per person. Offerings include chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, and lamb chops with rice cake and poached eggs.

Jonathan's The Rub Memorial Green: Specials during Valentine's weekend including Thai lobster, 42-ounce tomahawk steaks, and flounder Pontchartrain. Entrées will be served with chocolate-covered strawberries and sparkling wine. Cocktails for the weekend include a chocolate martini and a gin, lemon, and strawberry hibiscus syrup drink with brut. Kata Robata: You can have Valentine's Day to-go dinner for two, but get in early because there are only 30 spots available. Dinner includes premium chirashi, kobe beef skewers, Iberico shumai, brussels sprouts, and a dessert. Sake and sparkling rose pairings available, too. Landry's Seafood HouseGet special dishes from February 12 to 14 including seared scallops and filet and lobster tail.

La Table: Prix fixe menu offered upstairs from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. February 14 for $95 per person. Menu includes choice of red snapper or black angus filet, plus starter, dessert, and amuse bouche of salmon caviar. A la carte menu available downstairs. More information here.

Liberty Kitchen Treehouse: The restaurant is hosting a rooftop dinner with three seatings—1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 8 p.m.—on both February 13 and 14. The menu includes a petite filet and king crab with herb butter and whipped Yukon potato, plus wine pairings with each course, live music, and prizes from Kendra Scott jewelry. $200 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Mala Sichuan Bistro: At all locations, the restaurant is offering a Couple's Candlelit Dinner for $89.99 per couple. The dinner includes a choice of three dishes, plus tea (hot or iced), a bottle of wine, and a slice of mille crepe cake. Also, a single-rose bouquet. Call your preferred location to book.

Mastro's: Three meal kits available. For $250, get a bottle each of sparling and red wine, plus a three-course meal headlined by 24-ounce chateaubriand. For $330, get the same deal, but the sparkling wine is champagne (Veuve Clicquot Rosé NV). There's also an $80 kit of a half-dozen chocolate-covered strawberries, plus a bottle of oët & Chandon Brut Impérial Champagne NV. Call 713-993-2500.

Max's Wine Dive Montrose Avenue: For $45 per person, enjoy a prix fixe menu between February 12 and 14. Offerings include pan-seared halibut, grilled pork chop, and braised lamb shank. Comes with a glass of Prodige Blanc de Blancs.

Max's Wine Dive - Washington Avenue: For $75 per couple or $40 per person, enjoy a prix fixe menu between February 12 and 14. Offerings include pan-seared duck breast, grilled beef tenderloin, and pan-seared branzino. Add-on bottles are offered too.

Monkey's Tail: On February 14, 14-ounce ribeye is $17, eight-ounce filet is $20, and 16-ounce pork chop is $18. Served with sides. Mariachi band will play from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Mutiny Wine Room: A prix fixe wine dinner will be offered from February 12 to 14. It also includes a wine flight to be enjoyed in the tasting room. The dinner, at $100 per person, includes an entrée choice of roasted New Zealand lamb loin, poached beef tenderloin with beef consummé, or blood-orange-glazed Gulf snapper. Reservations required. A champagne and dessert take-away package is also being offered at $75. Call 832-618-1233.

The Original Ninfa's on Navigation and The Original Ninfa's Uptown: On Valentine's Day, the restaurants are offering Gulf oysters with a cava granite scallop shooter For $18 (half-dozen) or $36 (dozen). Pairing with a cava brut is $20 extra. Chocolate mousse with strawberries is $10.

Ouisie's Table: Three-course prix fixe menu available on February 13 and 14 at $45 plus tax and gratuity. Also, Marquis de la Mysteriale champagne bottles available at $40. Call 713-528-2264.

The Palm: A five-course dinner on February 14 with paired drinks features Kona-crusted filet and shrimp; quail lollipops; bourbon collard greens salad; roasted baby potatoes with bacon and blue cheese; and deconstructed toasted s'mores. $350 per couple. Pappas Bros. Steakhouse: A prix fixe menu is available at $94.95 per guest from February 12 to 14. Entrees include 16-ounce ribeye and broiled ora king salmon. Online ordering also available as of February 5.

Pier 6 Seafood & Oyster House: Four-course dinner offered at $69 per person that includes black-garlic-seared scallops, lobster gnocchi, and grilled yellowfin. Optional bottles of Clicquot ($110) and Veuve Clicquot Rosé ($135) available. Call 281-339-1515.

Rainbow Lodge: Three-course menu offered on February 14 at $89 per person. Or order to-go for $175, and get a field-and-stream dinner for two that includes overnight-braised North American bison short ribs and wild Alaskan spot prawns; grits and rainbow chard; and jumbo lump crab, artichoke, and spinach fondue with smoked trout caviar. With it comes a bottle of brut and a gift bag of bath and body items from Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic Lavender Farm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Call 713-861-8666.

Riel: Open on Valentine's Day with a la carte menu including oyster specials.

State Fare Kitchen & Bar: Both locations are offering a $49 steak and lobster duo with dessert included on February 13 and 14. Dinner starts at 4 p.m. both evenings. A Galentine's brunch will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days, and that'll feature red velvet pancakes with chocolate-covered strawberries, plus mimosa carafes and a rose bubbles flight.

Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen: The Parrillada Special for Two offered: a half-pound of chicken and beef fajitas, two grilled quail, and four jumbo shrimp, along with all the sides and fixins', and a chocolate tres leches cake for $48.95. Also offered to-go. Call 832-230-3842.

The Tasting Room: For $65 per person, enjoy a prix fixe menu between February 12 and 14. Offerings include roasted duck breast, pan-seared scallops, and grilled beef tenderloin. Comes with a sparkling wine toast.

Tobiuo Sushi & Bar: The Katy sushi spot will present a five-course tasting menu February 11–14 for $150 a couple. Call 281-394-7156.

Traveler's Table: The restaurant with a globe-trotting menu is offering two specials for Valentine's Day. Brunch is served at 10 a.m. February 13 and 14 with a two-course prix-fixe available for $40 per person. It includes your choice of beverage (bloody mary, mimosa, mocktail, shot). A to-go version with a bottle of sparkling wine is $90. For dinner on February 13 and 14, a three-course prix fixe is offered (it's the only option on February 14) at $65 per person with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. You can also order a to-go, three-course prix fixe dinner for two that includes a bottle of sparkling wine for $140 total. Custom floral arrangements are also available for dine-in during brunch and dinner at $75, $90 for a custom balloon addition. Reserve here and pre-order takeout here.

UB Preserv: Get a DIY Valentine's dinner kit for $100 that includes ingredients and instructions for lobster and shrimp siu mai, bone marrow with brioche and red onion marmalade, and Vietnamese steak au poivre. Add a cocktail kit for $50, a romantic playlist on vinyl for $30 or via Spotify for $5, and a floral bouquet for $45. Order by February 7 and pick up between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. February 14. 

The restaurant is also hosting a Galentine's brunch on February 14. It includes items like "All. Of. The. Bacon.," "Chicky chicky parm parm sammies/sandoozles/Adam Sandlers," and "The four horsemeals of the egg-pork-alypse."

Uchi: Along with regular dine-in (reservations requested) and a $250 omakase that includes duck, A5 wagyu, and uni among other delights, Uchi is offering a curbside caviar box for $120. It includes smoked trout roe and kaluga hybrid caviar, plus bites like sweet potato chips dusted with nori powder and fried sansho pepper capers. Uchi is also offering a $250 curbside pickup Valentine's Day omakase taht includes plenty of small plates, plus nigiri, duck breast, and a gift to bake at home. 

Underbelly Hospitality: Chef Chris Shepherd and PR guru Lindsey Brown (business partners and now partners in life) are hosting a virtual dinner at 6 p.m. February 13 inspired by New Orleans restaurant Peche. For $200 you'll learn to create a meal that includes hanger steak with salsa verde, baked seafood rice, catfish with pickled greens, and more. Sign up here.

The Union Kitchen: Four-course prix-fixe menu offered from February 12 to 14 at $39 per person. Items include lobster bisque, crispy-skin snapper, and romano-crusted chicken. Drink specials, as well. 

Vic & Anthony's: You can dine in for $110 and enjoy center-cut filet mignon, cracked lobster chick stuffed with lemon scampi butter, and haricots verts. The steakhouse also is offering a dinner kit for two at $135. Get two six-ounce filets, black truffle asparagus, roasted potatoes, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a bottle of reserve cabernet. It's offered February 12–14; order now. 

Weights + Measures: A special four-course meal will be offered the night of February 14 for $75 per person. Main courses include seared bay scallop with beet risotto, spinach pappardelle, roasted pork chop with polenta, or bone-in ribeye for two. Willie G's: At both locations, get special dishes from February 12 to 14 including surf and turf (Houston) and barramundi romeo (Galveston). 

XochiA couple's menu will be offered February 10–13 and 15–16 at $110 per couple, plus beverage, tax, and gratuity. On Valentine's Day, a special menu will be offered at $79 per person plus beverage, tax, and gratuity. Call 713-300-4440. 

Sweets and Treats

Antone's Famous Po'Boys: Get a free cookie with any sandwich on February 13 and 14.

Becca Cakes: Pre-order your goodies today, including a six-inch heart cake that can serve up t0 10 people ($95), ruby chocolate truffles ($14), and a gift set with all the best ($50). Call 713-364-3360.

Common Bond Bistro & Bakery: Get a custom-designed Valentine's Day cake. Pre-order by February 10 and pick up between February 12 and 14 at any location. Options include a three-layer cake for $65 (serves 8-10) and a heart cake for $35 (serves 2 to 4).

Dessert Gallery: Valentine's-themed cookies are available starting in February.

Mico's Hot Chicken: From February 12–14, the Heights purveyor will showcase a Burning Love Sammich. According to Mico's, the heat of this sandwich is even hotter than its extra hot.
