The Best Houston-Area Public High Schools
September 16, 2016 Published in the October 2016 issue of Houstonia Magazine
Methodology: Public school rankings were determined by Children at Risk, which has compiled an annual list of top Texas schools for 11 years. Children at Risk uses factors including STAAR test scores, SAT/ACT participation rates and scores, AP/IB participation rates and scores and a growth index tracking improvement over time on standardized test scores.
Considering these factors, Children at Risk assigns each public school a letter grade ranging from A+ to F. The schools on this list represent those with an A- or above letter grade. For additional information and and a detailed list, visit Children at Risk's website or read our interview with founder Dr. Bob Sanborn.
