Thanksgiving 2019: Where to Eat, What to Order

Here you go: A list of who's doing what for turkey day.

A tradition unlike any other ... the enormous annual Thanksgiving roundup. At Houstonia.

Yup, with the holiday just two weeks away (seriously, two!), it's time to tell you from where you can order a full to-go dinner, and where you can go if you just don't want to prepare and clean the house. Here's our list.

Frank's Americana Revival is offering a turkey dinner with sides.

Dinner To-Go

The Annie Café & Bar is offering a few traditional items (with Texan tweaks) for Thanksgiving take-out. There's a mole-spiced turkey with turkey cream sauce at $6.99 per bound (brined, seasoned, and ready to roast), plus sides like cornbread dressing, roasted sweet potatoes, and desserts like pecan pie and pumpkin pie. Order 48 hours in advance of pickup, and pick up is 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 26 and 27. Call 713-804-1800.

There's a Thanksgiving-to-go menu at B&B Butchers & Restaurant. You can pick up a main course, sides, and dessert—turkey at $6 per pound (or smoked for $6.99 per pound); roasted prime rib with au jus and pommes purée, plus Yorkshire pudding; traditional sides; and pies. Order 48 hours in advance of pickup, which begins Nov. 26 and lasts through 4 p.m. Nov. 28. Call 832-767-4828.

Brennan's of Houston is adding items like molasses-roasted sweet potatoes and bacon braised collard and mustard greens to its catering operation for Thanksgiving week. Pickup on Nov. 27.

You can get a number of sides and salads from Dish Society. Those items include truffled mac 'n' cheese, mashed sweet potatoes, wine-poached apple pecan salad, and more. Menu here.

Feel the way Erin Smith and Patrick Feges feel every day by ordering some Feges BBQ for Thanksgiving. You can order whole brisket (6-8 pounds), a whole rack of pork ribs, sausage links, and 3-4 pound turkey breast. Sides include Feges classics like Moroccan spiced carrots, sweet potato and banana mashers, and cornbread stuffing. A few desserts and sauces also available, along with cooking fats and rubs. They got you. Order by Nov. 20 and pick up between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 26-27 at Feges in Greenway Plaza.

Frank's Americana Revival is offering two entrées, five side dishes, three choices of breads, and two desserts to-go, and all a la carte. Entrées include an average 7-pound turkey breast and average 12-pound bone-in spiral ham (gravy or bourbon brown sugar glaze comes with). Sides include cornbread, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, and more. For dessert: cranberry walnut bread pudding and apple crumble. Order by 9 p.m. Nov. 22 and pick up at 2 p.m. Nov. 27.

Of course, Goode Co. BBQ is offering to-go grub. Get Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie ($22, or in a wood box for $42), mesquite-smoked turkey, a bundle of turkey and pecan pie, or—yup—turkey and pecan pie in the wood box. Go to any Goode Co. BBQ location from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 26-27 to get yours. 

The holiday catering menu at Hungry's is available through Dec. 31. You can get the holiday family feast for $170 (turkey with brown gravy, sides, a dessert, and dinner rolls, serving 10), or opt for a la carte offerings like honey-glazed ham, sides, desserts, and more. The Kitchen in The Woodlands has a to-go menu set for you. Get turkey (cooked in chef Austin Simmons's brine) or chipotle honey glazed spiral-cut ham, plus sides like maple sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese, along with cranberry sauce and rolls. Desserts include pecan and pumpkin pie. Pick up on Nov. 27.

Liberty Kitchen is gearing up with a $189 feast for eight to 10 people. It includes turkey, plenty of sides, and pumpkin pie. Liberty Kitchen is also taking a la carte orders. Order by 9 p.m. Nov. 21 and pick up 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Nov. 26-27 or 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 28 at Liberty Kitchen at the Treehouse.

Lucienne at Hotel Alessandra is offering a full feast for 10-12 at $320. Get soup, salad, turkey, a bunch of sides, apple pie, and pumpkin pie, plus a bit more. Call 713-242-8540 to order before Nov. 25. Pick up from 11 a.m-2 p.m. Nov. 28. 

Want Thanksgiving the Pit Room way? You can get a 12-pound (on average) smoked turkey, 6-8 pounds of brisket, or a 6-8 pound (on average) smoked ham, plus 1751 smoked oyster stuffing, smoked oysters, cornbread, and more. Desserts include pumpkin pie, spiced pear streusel pie, and fig chess pie. Orders must be placed before Nov. 23 and picked up Nov. 26-27. Call 281-888-1929.

Revival Market is giving you the full grocery experience ... without the anxiety. Proteins include whole raw turkey (they can brine it and/or smoke it, but both are extra), ham (bone-in, bone-out, plus glazed), whole duck, and duck breast. Traditional sides are available, as are a selection of desserts (apple pie, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, coconut cream pie), and breads from Magnol French Baking. Also, as usual, Revival has tools for you to get the job done, included rendered lard, stock, pie shell, and whipped cream for your desserts. Finally, new this year: beer, wine, champagne, and cider (plus port!). Order by 4 p.m. Nov. 22 and pick up between Nov. 25 and 27 at Revival.

How about a classic Italian-style Thanksgiving? Tony's is doing to-go this year, offering turkey, cornbread stuffing, and whipped mashed potatoes, plus Italian-style green beans, Vallone salad, lasagna, meatballs, and whole mile-high limoncello pie. The full feast is $270 for six people and $540 for 12. Orders in by Nov. 22, pickup 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 27. Call 713-622-6778.

Get an Underbelly Thanksgiving (or maybe one or two dishes from the Chris Shepherd playbook to impress friends and loved ones). Dishes include Shepherd family rum sausages, lamburger helper, jalapeño cheddar cornbread dressing, sweet potato and cheddar gratin, house-smoked and -brined turkey breast, day-after gumbo, cranberry sauce, yeast rolls, pecan pie, vinegar pie, and Georgia James apple pie. Oh, and if you want the actual Chris Shepherd playbook, you can order his Cook Like a Local through that portal. (Yours truly is making one of Shepherd's dishes for this year's Friendsgiving.) Order by 9 p.m. Nov. 24 and pick up between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 28 behind Hay Merchant and Georgia James.

Verandah Progressive Indian Cuisine will offer to-go turkey (masala style!) and sides. Order by Nov. 21 and pick up by 11 a.m. Nov. 28. Call 281-501-0258.

Dinner Out

Ara Restaurant and Axis Lounge at Royal Sonesta are both offering a plated meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, and more. Appetizer and dessert are each extra. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Nov. 28. $29 per person.

B&B Butchers & Restaurant will be open with a prix-fixe menu that includes three courses—entrées like roast turkey or prime rib, soup or salad, and dessert of pumpkin pie, pecan pie, or apple crumble. Amuse bouche also included, and a bunch of sides with your entrée. 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Nov. 28. $68 per person, $25 ages 12 and younger.

At Bacaro Kitchen & Wine Bar, get a three-course prix-fixe with entrées of traditional turkey dinner with sides, honey-baked ham, or pistachio-crusted salmon. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 28. $45, $20 ages 11 and younger.

In River Oaks District, Bisou will serve a three-course meal with course options including turducken roulade, smoked ribeye, French onion soup, and a trio of desserts. A kids' menu will also be available. Noon-8 p.m. Nov. 28. $55 per person, $15 per child.

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations will throw a feast on Thanksgiving. Get two or three proteins (maple-bourbon brined turkey, brown sugar baked ham, dry-aged roast beef), plus a bunch of sides and either apple cobbler or pumpkin spiced cake for dessert. The executive team at Bosscat will be serving. 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 28. $50-$60, $15 ages 12 and younger.

Want to celebrate? Head to Brennan's of Houston for a Thanksgiving meal that includes entrées like Creole-roasted turkey with mushroom and andouille dressing, Berkshire pork osso bucco, and honey-roasted duck. 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 28. $62 per person. Call 713-522-9711.

Visit the Capital Grille for a three-course meal that includes slow-roasted turkey with French green beans, cranberry-pear chutney, and a la carte mashed potatoes, plus pumpkin cheesecake. The restaurant will also feature a pinot noir with dinner, and the signature dinner menu will also be available. Starting 11 a.m. Nov. 28. $43, $15 children.

Down at the Classic, get a full prix-fixe meal with entrées like maple-glazed turkey breast, grilled san san tofu, and an herb-crusted and roasted butcher's cut. Every entrée is served with family-style sides. Appetizers include salad or soup, and desserts include pecan pie, an apple kugel, or Mom's Chocolate Cake. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 28. $45 per person, $18 per child. 

Over at Eddie V's Prime Seafood, get a meal that includes slow-roasted turkey, brioche sage stuffing, cranberry chutney, hand-whipped potatoes, French green beans, and butternut squash. Pumpkin pie, as well. An exclusive cranberry sage mule will be available for $12. All day Nov. 28. $43, $15 children.

Eight Row Flint promises a laid-back experience. A plate from Revival Market includes turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mac 'n' cheese, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie. Full pours of Wild Turkey bourbon and rye also available. 2 p.m.-10 p.m. Nov. 28. $25 per plate.

Eunice is putting on a cajun and Creole Thanksgiving celebration with a three-course meal. Entrées include turkey with fixins, shrimp and grits, and grilled beef tenderloin, while appetizers range from smoked chicken and sausage gumbo to pumpkin bisque; desserts mean bread pudding, lemon pie, and pumpkin soufflé. Large sharable items like chicken liver mousse and Eunice's famous hand-pulled burrata are also available, along with raw bar items like Gulf oysters and Peruvian scallops. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 28. Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar will be open on Thanksgiving with a prix-fixe menu of turkey breast or petite filet mignon, plus sides and dessert. A kids prix-fixe dinner will also be available. 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Nov. 28. $45 per person, $22 per child.

The Hilton Americas, at its restaurant 1600 Bar + Grille, is hosting a Thanksgiving brunch with breakfast offerings including an omelet station and eggs benedict, Alaskan crab legs, roast turkey, other entrées, desserts, complimentary mimosas, and more. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 28. $56.95, $46.95 seniors, $18.95 children. Indianola is going with a honkin' big buffet for Thanksgiving with smoked turkey, black Angus shoulder filet, a bevy of sides like seven-layer salad and green bean casserole, and a whole host of hors d'oeuvres from spicy cheese balls to hot tamales to Swedish meatballs to salmon gravlax toast. Also, more than a few desserts in play. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 28. $55, $20 ages 12 and younger, free ages 3 and younger.

La Table is offering a prix-fixe menu at both Marché and Château. Main courses range from turkey with seasonal vegetables to beef tenderloin to cod caviar. If you want lobster bisque for Thanksgiving, you can get that, too. Pie duo for dessert. 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 28. $75 per person, $35 per child.

Get a three-course meal at Lucienne at Hotel Alessandra. Tenderloin with bearnaise sauce and roast turkey breast are options, along with fun stuff like chocolate molten with armagnac ice cream and almond brittle. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 28. $50 per person.

Perry's Steakhouse & Grille is throwing a special dinner all day. Get a prix-fixe or order off the menu, but Thanksgiving items include a soup or salad, turkey breast, mashed potatoes, and other fixins. Also look for pumpkin cheesecake (an additional $8). 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Nov. 28. $45 per person, $15 per child for prix fixe.

Chris Cosentino's Rosalie is offering a tidy prix-fixe menu with Italian flavor. Appetizers include meatballs and roasted pumpkin soup; look for entrées like lasagna, red fish, honey-nut squash, and turkey; and for dessert is a slice of pie (apple, pumpkin, pecan). Sides served family style, too. 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Nov. 28. $60 per person.

New Rice Village restaurant Safina is throwing a Turkey Day dinner. Get, well, turkey, plus prime rib and cedar-plank salmon, along with a bunch of sides (mostly traditional) and a la carte desserts including cranberry preserve and pepita brittle and apple-browned butter cake with apple butter, rosemary whipped cream, bourbon caramel glaze, chocolate almond crunch, and sea salt. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 28. $55 per person, $27.50 ages 6-12, free ages 5 and younger. Desserts are extra.

Over at Seasons 52, Thanksgiving will feature a menu with roasted turkey, traditional sides, and miniature pumpkin pie. Seasonal cocktails also available. Nov. 28. $29.95 per person, $14 per child.

Truluck's is offering a prix-fixe with herb-roasted turkey breast, plus soups, salads, and either pumpkin or pecan pie. Plus, you can order seconds to-go. Noon-9 p.m. Nov. 28. $45 per person, $19 for ages 12 and younger.

Chef Sunil Srivastava is cooking up Thanksgiving fare for a day-of banquet at Verandah Progressive Indian Restaurant. Get masala-style roast turkey, lamb, chicken, fish, roast potatoes with black cumin and cilantro, mixed vegetables, and more. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 28. $65 per person, $30 ages nine and younger. Also ... 

Benjy's loves Friendsgiving, and it's doing it thrice this year. For each dinner, 25 percent of all proceeds will go toward a local charity. Dates are Nov. 19, 20, and 21, and benefitting charities include the Lance McCullers Jr. Foundation (Nov. 19), the Children's Assessment Center (Nov. 20), and Friends of West University Parks (Nov. 21).

Leftover day at Bistro Provence means taking Thanksgiving and turning it upside down. For dinner on Nov. 29, get turkey pot pie, hachis parmetier—pulled beef with mashed potatoes and Swiss cheese—and more transformed treats. 

Molina's Cantina is offering holiday tamales at $10.95 per dozen. 

UB Preserv is throwing Friendsgiving with a special brunch Nov. 24. Chef Nick Wong will be cooking up turducken plus wok-fried green beans, chile con queso Hasselback potatoes, Parker House rolls, and coconut cream pie, among other items. 10:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Nov. 24. $35 per person, free ages 4 and younger.
